Thorne (1939) established the genus Nygellus with a single species clavatus having a combination of features of both Nygolaimidae and Belondiridae. Inspite of the nygolaimoid pharynx and mural tooth, he placed the genus under Belondiridae due to the presence of sheath of spiral muscles surrounding the basal expanded part of pharynx. Later Williams (1958) and Jairajpuri (1964) included two didelphic species Nygellus symmetricus and N. caudatus respectively in the genus because of the presence of spiral muscles around the basal part of pharynx. Clark (1961) transferred the genus Nygellus Thorne, 1939 to Nygolaimidae considering the nygolaimoid characters to be more fundamental and important than belondiroid characters.- Some Species of Dorylaimoidea (Nematoda) Associated with Guava and Litchi, with New Records from West Bengal, India

Among these A. papillatus and A. tritici are the new records from India.- Free Living and Plant Parasitic Soil Nematodes (Orders Dorylaimida and Tylenchida) of Himachal Pradesh, India

A few specimens of Trophurus clavicaudatus sp. n. and Tylenchorhynchus mashhoodi Siddiqi and Basir, 1959 were collected from soil around the ischolar_mains of litchi (Litchi chinensis Sonn.) at South 24- Parganas district. West Bengal, India. Among 14 valid species of Trophurus Loof, 1956, as listed by Siddiqi (2000), only 4 species have been described and reported from India and other 10 species have been reported from Europe, Africa, North and South America.- Two New and Two Known Species of Dorylaimoidea (Nematoda) from West Bengal, India with a Key to the Species of the Genus Indodorylaimus Ali and Prabha, 1974

Dorylaimid nematodes, associated with different crop plants from West Bengal, India, were comprehensively reported and described by Sukul (1967a; 1972; 1973), Sukul et al, (1975), Baqri and Khera (1975,1979), Mukherjee and Dasgupta (1981), Baqri. and Jana (1980; 1982 & 1986), Jana and Baqri (1981a & b; 1982; 1984; 1985), Dey and Baqri (1986). Soil edaphic factors like temperature and moisture are important for the community composition of nematodes. Those were considered to assess their effects upon the population of soil nematodes. The present work was carried out in a guava (Psidium guajava L.) orchard at Shalipur (West), Baruipur block of South 24-Parganas for three consecutive years. The results revealed that the maximum populations of nematodes were observed during monsoon with a population of 4169/250gm of soil in the month of July. During monsoon low soil temperature (30.10C - 31.80C) and high soil moisture (20% - 26%) in the month of July were also observed. The minimum population (204/250gm of soil) of soil nematodes was observed during pre- and post-monsoon with a wide range of low to high soil temperature (180C - 340C) and low soil moisture (10% - 13%). This reveals a direct effect of these two climatic factors of soil on the population of soil nematodes which has been established by correlation and regression analysis.Keywords
